The thin crescent moon prepares to disappear below the horizon just after nightfall. Earth shine illuminates the dark side of the moon.

I’m drawn to night scenes. I don’t know how many I’ve done but they regularly show up in my body of work. This composition is inspired by several visits to Blue Rocks in Nova Scotia. Part of my fascination with this genre is the fact that once light is reduced to a certain level, our eyes can’t see color anymore. Since my palette of inks does not include black, I take a take a big step away from depicting a realistic image of night by introducing saturated, dark color throughout.
